About

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I’m Michelle and I’ve been on the mic as a Group X instructor since 2010, teaching strength, spin and step formats. When I’m not at the gym, you can find me crafting stories at my day job in content marketing.

The fuel to my fire comes from motivating others and that’s why I’m here. I built this blog to bring together fitness pros from all walks of life in order to inspire, encourage and learn from each other.

I can’t wait to get to know you and chat all things group fitness.

My Group X Background

I grew up taking Group X classes with my mom. I left every class feeling inspired and motivated, knowing I got a much better workout than I would on my own. As I was planning my extracurriculars for my freshman year, I stumbled upon the UCLA Fitness Leadership Program and I knew instantly that it was the perfect fit for me.

Each school year, the program helps aspiring group exercise instructors and personal trainers successfully enter the fitness industry, covering a wide variety of topics — anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, exercise technique, program design, special populations and motivation, etc.

After the year ended, I passed both my ACE Fitness group exercise certification test and my audition to teach my own classes. Fast forward through a few years of teaching in college, I graduated with a degree in communications and moved to San Jose to start my career in PR. Shortly after that, I auditioned at a local gym. One gym quickly turned into two and now a few years later I’m teaching at a handful of gyms in the Bay Area. I’m also now certified in Schwinn Cycling.

My gym roster includes: Active Sports Clubs, ClubSport San Jose, The Bay Club, Apple, Club One and UCLA.
